Crispy Onion Pakoda - Pyaaz Ka Padoda - क्रिस्पी करारे प्याज का पकोड़ा - Priya R - Magic of Indian Rasoi

Crispy Onion Pakoda or Pyaaz Ka Pakoda is delicious fried Indian Snack made from Bengal Gram Flour batter, onions and spices. It is a delicious starter or evening snack and it goes great during the rainy season with a cup of hot tea! They are quick to make and you can prepare it anytime you feel like. Do try it during any rainy day.

INGREDIENTS:

2 big Chopped Onions (200g)
1 Tsp Grated Ginger
1 Tsp Grated Garlic (optional)
2 Green Chilles finely chopped
2 Tbsp Fresh Coriander Leaves finely chopped
1 Cup Gram Flour (Besan)
1/4 Cup Rava
1/4 Tsp Asafoetida (Hing)
1/4 Tsp Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
1/2 Tsp Cumin Powder (Jeera)
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper Powder coarsely grounded
1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder 
1 Tbsp Whole Coriander Seeds
1/8 Tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
Salt to taste
2 Tbsp Oil
Little water for batter
Oil for frying

SERVES: Makes about 300g Onion Pakoda (2-3 people)
PREPARATION TIME: 10 Min 
COOKING TIME: 15 Min
TOTAL TIME: 25 Min
* 1 CUP = 237 ML

METHOD:

1. In a bowl mix Chopped Onions, Grated Ginger, Grated Garlic (optional), Green Chilles finely chopped, Fresh Coriander Leaves finely chopped, Gram Flour (Besan), Rava, Asafoetida (Hing), Carom Seeds (Ajwain) pressed between palms, Cumin Powder (Jeera), Black Pepper Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Whole Coriander Seeds pressed between palms, Turmeric Powder (haldi), and Salt to taste, and 2 Tbsp Oil with a spoon.
2. Make coating consistency thick batter using approx 1/4 cup water initially . If required add little more water. 
3. Heat oil & fry small pakodas for 1-2 min only. We will re-fry pakodas to make it crispier. 
4. Remove in a plate.
5. Give it 5-10 mins rest time or until you serve it.
6. Heat oil again & fry the Pakodas on low/medium flame until golden brown. Do not fry on high flame as it can remain raw from inside.
7. Once golden brown in color, remove Onion Pakodas on paper napkin.
8. Crispy Onion Pakoda are ready to serve!
9. Serve Crispy Onion Pakoda with Green Chutney & Ketchup! Do enjoy these in rainy season!
